july 2019 wrap up!

(let’s just not talk about how late i am for this.)

july was probably as busy as june was. i didn’t feel like i had much free time until this last week, and i still don’t feel like i’m resting or anything. it was also a pretty hard month for other reasons, so i’m glad it’s finally over.

BUT.

i did read some really good books. all of them were rated four or five stars, which i’m so happy about, knowing that i rarely give books five stars.

i watched MOON LOVERS: SCARLET HEART RYEO (and it was amazing)!

SCARLET HEART is a korean drama about this girl who’s transported back in time to the Goryeo Dynasty. there, she finds herself trapped in a foreign body, and among the princes of that era, and later finds herself caught between politics and other stuff which i’m not gonna spoil.

this was easily one of the most wonderful dramas i have ever watched. ever. i couldn’t even stop watching it. the plot was so beautifully done, the story was tragic, the plot-twists caught me completely off-guard. the acting was just…*chef’s kiss*.

i highly recommend you to watch it if you enjoy historical settings, tragic stories and just pain in general (because oh boi it really was painful to watch).

TRIGGER WARNING for death and blood.

books i read

  • ORPHEUS GIRL, by brynne rebele-henry: (★★★★★) i read an ARC of this book and it absolutely outdid me. i was completely blown away. it left me with deep thoughts and enlightened me on such important issues. it was so tragic, so deep, and so real. i highly recommend you pick it out once it comes out (october 8th, 2019).
  • THE LUCKIEST LADY IN LONDON, by sherry thomas: (★★★☆☆) this was one of the books i mentioned and was super excited to read this summer, and while it disappointed me a little because it felt boring in some parts, i really enjoyed it! it was fun (even hilarious at times), sweet, so so cute, and gave me warm fuzzy feels.
  • THE ROOMATE AGREEMENT, by emma hart: (★★★★☆) this was such a quick easy read. nothing special or mind-blowing, just your typical best-friends-to-lovers kind of book. it honestly felt more like a wattpad story. but i couldn’t not like it. i ran through it so quickly that i don’t know how i was done with it in such a short amount of time.
  • A GENTLEMAN IN THE STREET, by alisha rai: (★★★★★) oh my god this book. i’m still thinking about it. i loved it. i adored it. it was everything i expected, everything i needed and more. it was just so so good. i just want to throw it in everybody’s face to read it. (please read it.)

on the blog:

i know i didn’t blog as much as i planned, but i’m still happy with what i posted this month, the interactions and feedback i received (thank you!), AND i’m hopping to post more in august!

how was your month? have you read any new favorite book(s)? did you watch any movie or tv show that you enjoyed?

  3. Sounds like you had a great reading month! I haven’t heard much about Orpheus Girl, but I’m glad to hear you liked it. I vaguely remember adding it to my TBR so I should probably look into it again.
